Sharjah Islamic Bank’s SWIFT code is NBSHAEAS, and the 11-character form is NBSHAEASXXX. The letters don’t spell “SIB” because the code dates from the bank’s earlier name, National Bank of Sharjah, which is where the NBSH comes from. A payer who can’t find “SIB” in their bank’s list should search for NBSHAEAS instead.
Receiving money into an SIB account is free. SIB doesn’t charge for inward remittances, so the only deductions you’ll see come from the sender’s bank or a bank in the middle.

Get your SIB IBAN three ways
An IBAN is required for any money coming into a UAE account, so get it right before you share it:
- By SMS. Text IBAN followed by your 13-digit account number to 6667 from your registered mobile.
- Online. SIB’s IBAN generator turns your 13-digit account number into the IBAN.
- In Online Banking or SIB Digital. Go to Accounts > More options > Account details.
Enter the 13-digit number carefully in the generator. SIB doesn’t take responsibility for losses from an incorrect account number entered there.
How long a transfer takes
International transfers usually take 3 to 5 working days, depending on SIB’s internal checks and the correspondent banks along the route. Payments to and from some countries need more checks than others, which is why two transfers sent the same day can land on different days.
If a transfer fails for a technical reason, SIB reverses it within 24 to 48 hours.
Sending money abroad from SIB
When you’re the payer, SIB needs:
- Your account details
- The beneficiary’s full address
- A purpose code and purpose of payment
- The beneficiary’s IBAN and SWIFT details
You can send from an SIB branch, Online Banking or an ATM. Transfers to India, Pakistan, Jordan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Nepal can go as instant and free transfers.
Straight-through transfers are processed instantly and can’t be cancelled. A transfer still under review can be changed within 3 business days through a written request at a branch or online.
Getting a SWIFT copy & tracing a payment
If a payment you sent or expected is late, SIB gives you three routes:
- Send a secure message through Online or Mobile Banking: Message center > Compose, choose Inquiry as the nature of request and Transfers as the category.
- Call the SIB call centre on 600 SIB (742) and ask them to raise a tracer request.
- Visit the nearest branch.
The same secure message route gets you a copy of the SWIFT message for a transfer you sent, which is the document the receiving bank will ask for. Your transfer reference number is under Transfers > Transaction details in Online or Mobile Banking. An MT103 SWIFT copy is what any trace starts from.
