DIB Balance Check: alt Mobile, Phone Banking, ATM & Chatbot

Dubai Islamic Bank puts its balance checks under one name, alt, which covers the DIB alt mobile app, alt online, phone banking and the bank’s ATMs. Which one suits you depends on what you have in your hand: a smartphone, a debit or covered card with its PIN, or just a phone that can make calls.

With a smartphone: DIB alt mobile

The DIB alt mobile app shows your accounts, cards and finance details on login. Setting it up takes a few minutes and doesn’t need an online banking username if you use the MPIN route.

First-time setup with MPIN

  1. Download DIB alt mobile from the App Store or Google Play. It’s free.
  2. Choose the MPIN option and enter your card number and card PIN.
  3. Enter the one-time password DIB sends to your registered mobile number.
  4. Set a 5-digit MPIN. From then on, the MPIN or Face ID or fingerprint logs you in.

If you’d rather have a full user ID and password, tap Register, enter your card and PIN, then create your user ID, password and security credentials. The same login works on alt online.

Seeing the balance

Your accounts load on the home screen after login, with your cards and finance details listed alongside them. Tap an account for its transactions.

On a computer: alt online Quick Login

Quick Login lets you check balances in a browser without creating a username.

  1. Go to online.dib.ae and choose Quick Login.
  2. Enter your card number and PIN.
  3. Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

For the full online banking service, register as a new user on www.dib.ae under alt online with your card and PIN, or use your alt mobile credentials if you already have them.

Without data: phone banking on 04 609 2222

DIB alt phone banking runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year. From abroad, dial +971 4 609 2222.

  1. Call 04 609 2222.
  2. Enter your account or card number and your T-PIN when asked.
  3. Choose 2-1 for accounts (current or savings).
  4. Choose 2-1-1, the quick menu, for your balance and last five transactions. The same option also sits under 2-1-2, Banking Service.

For a covered card, choose 2-2 for cards, then 2-2-2 for available balance and the last five transactions. Investment deposits are under 2-3.

Phone banking also understands spoken requests, so saying “balance” routes you to the right menu. If you want to skip the T-PIN in future, you can register a voice ID: call 04 609 2222, say “Register my Voice ID”, enter your T-PIN and OTP, then repeat the phrase the system gives you.

At a DIB ATM

DIB has 535 ATMs and more than 155 cash and cheque deposit machines across the UAE. Insert your debit card, enter your PIN and pick account balance inquiry. The same menu offers a credit card balance inquiry and a mini statement.

DIB ATMs also handle SMS banking registration. Once registered, you get text alerts for financial transactions, which saves checking manually after each one. Fees for the alt SMS banking service are in DIB’s schedule of charges.

For salary questions: the DIB chatbot

DIB’s chatbot answers two things a plain balance doesn’t: your last salary credit date and amount. It runs on DIB’s website and on Facebook Messenger.

That makes it the quickest way to tell whether a payment that hit your balance was your salary or something else. Through the same chatbot or phone banking, salaried customers can also apply for Salary in Advance.

If your salary hasn’t arrived at all, the chatbot will show the last credit, and the next step is with your employer. A UAE salary balance check across your accounts and cards rules out a credit landing somewhere you didn’t expect.

Problems & fixes

  • No OTP arriving. Your mobile number isn’t updated with DIB. Call +971 4 609 2222 or visit a branch to update it.
  • You don’t have a T-PIN. Set one up through phone banking’s electronic banking services menu (2-1-4 covers T-PIN change and SMS registration).
  • Card blocked or lost. Block it in alt mobile or alt online first, then use phone banking with your account number.
  • A transfer from abroad isn’t in your balance. The payer needs your full IBAN and the DIB SWIFT code, DUIBAEAD.

Protecting your DIB login

DIB never contacts you by call, SMS or email to ask for your user ID, password or security details. If you get a suspicious email that looks like DIB, don’t click anything in it and forward it to contactus@dib.ae or call +971 4 609 2222.

Don’t write your PIN on the card or keep a written copy with it, and don’t share it with anyone.
