Emirates Islamic SWIFT code

Emirates Islamic SWIFT Code: MEBLAEAD, IBAN & Routing Code

Emirates Islamic’s SWIFT code is MEBLAEAD, and the 11-character version is MEBLAEADXXX. Payments into an Emirates Islamic account are free on the bank’s side, and you get an SMS as soon as the money is credited.

There are actually two codes an Emirates Islamic customer may be asked for. The SWIFT code is for money from abroad. Your employer needs a different one, the bank’s routing code, to pay your salary.

Details to give your employer for salary

Field What to enter
Account number Your Emirates Islamic account number
Bank address Emirates Islamic Bank PJSC, P.O. Box 6564, Dubai, UAE
Routing code 7034 2011 4

Give payroll the routing code and the IBAN, not the SWIFT code, because a salary is a local payment. Once it lands, the Emirates Islamic balance check methods show it.

Update your employment details with the bank when you change jobs.

MEBLAEAD or EBILAEAD?

Emirates Islamic is part of the Emirates NBD group, which is why the two get mixed up. They’re separate banks with separate codes. If your account is with Emirates NBD itself, the Emirates NBD SWIFT code is EBILAEAD. Your IBAN settles it: 034 in characters 5 to 7 is Emirates Islamic, and 026 is Emirates NBD.

Finding your Emirates Islamic IBAN

Your IBAN is on your account statement, and in Online Banking or the EI+ app under the account’s details. Emirates Islamic also has an IBAN generator for customers who can’t log in.

The IBAN doesn’t replace your account number. It’s an extra, international identifier that wraps the account number together with the country and bank code. Both inward and outward transfers in the UAE need it, and a payment without one is likely to be rejected or delayed, sometimes with extra processing charges.

Receiving money in another currency

Your payer can send in their own currency or in dirhams. Anything that arrives in a currency different from your account’s currency is converted at Emirates Islamic’s exchange rate on the day it’s credited. If you’d rather lock in the rate the sender’s bank offers, ask them to send AED.

Who pays the transfer fees is the sender’s choice:

  • OUR: the sender pays all charges and you receive the full amount.
  • SHA: the sender and you share the charges.
  • BEN: all charges, including correspondent and beneficiary bank charges, come out of the amount you receive.

Emirates Islamic doesn’t charge to receive the transfer, so any shortfall under SHA or BEN comes from the sender’s bank or a correspondent in between.

When the money hasn’t arrived

Most banks process local transfers within 2 working days and international transfers within 4 working days. The real time depends on where the sender’s bank is, the currency, and when the payment reaches Emirates Islamic.

  1. Ask the sender to confirm they used MEBLAEAD and your exact IBAN, and that their bank processed the payment.
  2. Ask them to request the MT103 from their bank. It’s the SWIFT message showing the date, amount, currency, sender and recipient.
  3. Contact Emirates Islamic on 600 599 995 with the MT103 so the bank can trace the transfer.

An MT103 SWIFT copy is what any trace starts from.

FAQ

What is the SWIFT code of Emirates Islamic Bank?

MEBLAEAD. The 11-character form is MEBLAEADXXX, and both reach the same bank.

What is the Emirates Islamic routing code for salary transfer?

7034 2011 4. Give it to your employer together with your IBAN and the bank address, P.O. Box 6564, Dubai.

Is Emirates Islamic’s SWIFT code the same as Emirates NBD’s?

No. Emirates Islamic uses MEBLAEAD and Emirates NBD uses EBILAEAD. The IBAN bank code tells them apart: 034 for Emirates Islamic, 026 for Emirates NBD.

Does Emirates Islamic charge to receive international transfers?

No. Transfers into Emirates Islamic accounts are free. Charges on the sender’s side or from a correspondent bank can still reduce the amount if the sender picks SHA or BEN.

Is the BIC the same as the SWIFT code?

Yes. The network is called SWIFT and the codes are known as BIC, so a form asking for either wants MEBLAEAD.

Before you share your details

  • Copy your IBAN from the EI+ app or a statement.
  • Send overseas payers MEBLAEAD, the bank name, the P.O. Box address and your IBAN.
  • Give your employer the routing code 7034 2011 4 instead of the SWIFT code.
  • Ask for OUR charges when you need the exact amount.

Codes for every other UAE bank are on the UAE bank SWIFT codes list.
