Shees park

Shees Park: Entry Fee, Timings, Rules & How to Get There

Shees Park charges AED 5 a person and opens daily from 8 AM to 10 PM. It sits in the Hajar Mountains above Shees village, about 70 km down Khorfakkan Road from the Emirates Road exit. Cars stay outside, so the visit starts on foot.

Sharjah Municipality opened the park on 15 October 2020 after an eight-month build. The waterfall is the draw, and three terraces of walkway climb past it to a viewing platform.

What’s inside the park

Waterfall at Shees Park
  • A 25 m artificial waterfall, the focal point of the park
  • Three terraced levels joined by stone stairways, ending at the main viewing platform
  • 506 m of walking paths lined with palm trees and local plants
  • A children’s play area with swings, slides and see-saws
  • 32 shaded seating areas with stone benches
  • An outdoor theatre for 70 people
  • A designated barbecue area
  • A Gerard Café branch serving coffee and light refreshments
  • Toilets and free drinking water

Walking the terraces

The stone stairways between terraces make this a climb rather than a flat loop. The top platform sits about 30 m above the main level and looks out over the surrounding mountains.

The paths add up to 506 m, so the walking itself takes well under an hour. Most of the time goes on the seating areas, the barbecue and the café.

Best time to visit

October to April is the comfortable window, when the mountain air is cool and the stairs are easy going. In summer the terraces take more effort in the heat.

Tree-lined park walkway

Weekends, and Fridays especially, are the busiest days. Midweek visits have the barbecue area and the viewing platform largely to themselves.

Wadi Shees trail & nearby stops

The Wadi Shees nature trail is a 1.8 km loop through the valley, past falaj irrigation channels and terraced farms. It suits all ages and takes 30 to 40 minutes.

The old village in the same area is under restoration. After the park, Khorfakkan Beach on the coast is free to enter and open 24 hours.
