GCC Exchange has two branches in Bur Dubai, and both open every day, Friday included, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM. Bur Dubai 1 is in the Wholesale Textiles Market, and Bur Dubai 2 is on Al Hisa Street in Meena Bazaar.
Both handle currency exchange and money transfers. Currency exchange costs AED 3 to AED 5 per transaction, and a transfer to a UAE bank account costs AED 16.

What the counters handle
Both branches cover the main retail services:
- Currency exchange: buying and selling foreign cash, with 18 major currencies kept in stock, including USD, EUR, GBP, INR, BDT, PHP, SAR, and OMR.
- International transfers to bank accounts: to all countries except sanctioned ones.
- Cash pickup transfers: the recipient collects cash abroad.
- Instant money transfers: through GCC Remit, Western Union, Instant Cash, Transfast, and Ria.
- Local transfers: to any UAE bank account through the UAE Funds Transfer System.
- WPS payroll: salary processing for companies under the Wages Protection System.
If your salary is paid through WPS, our guide to checking your salary balance in the UAE covers how to confirm it arrived.
What it costs
These are GCC Exchange’s charges for remittance and currency exchange:
| Service | Charge | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Currency exchange | AED 3 to AED 5 | Instant |
| Transfer to a UAE bank account | AED 16, including VAT | 24 to 48 hours |
| SWIFT transfer in USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, or JPY | AED 32 (including VAT) to AED 350 plus VAT | 4 to 5 days |
| Bank or cash pickup transfer (other corridors) | From AED 0, varies by country and amount | Instant or value-dated |
| Tracer, amendment, or cancellation | AED 190 | On request |
The exchange rate matters as much as the fee. Rates change during the day, and a deal is fixed only when the transaction goes through.
Two more costs can come off a transfer:
- Intermediary and beneficiary banks can deduct their own charges from the amount sent.
- Multi-currency remittances can carry a back-end deduction of USD 40 to USD 80.
What to bring
- Emirates ID, or a passport with a UAE visa. A valid ID is required for every remittance.
- Recipient details: full name, bank name, account number or IBAN, and any local code the destination country uses. For cash pickup, the recipient’s name as it appears on their ID.
- Payment: cash, a bank transfer, or a cheque. A cheque must be current-dated, crossed, and payable to GCC Exchange, and the transaction runs only once it clears.
- Extra documents if asked. GCC Exchange can request more ID or information under Central Bank rules, and a transfer can be held until it’s provided.
Using the branch, step by step
- Go to the counter for your service. People of determination have a separate queue.
- Hand over your ID and tell the staff if you’re exchanging currency or sending money.
- Give the recipient details for a transfer, or the currency and amount for an exchange.
- Check the rate and fee before you pay. Once the transaction runs, it can’t be undone at the same rate.
- Check the receipt before you leave. Signing it confirms the details are correct.
- Count your cash at the counter. A shortage can’t be claimed once you’ve left.
- Keep the receipt. You’ll need it for any cancellation, trace, or complaint.
Foreign cash you buy can’t be returned at the same rate. Selling it back counts as a new transaction at the day’s buying rate.
Branch or app
The GCC Exchange app and website handle international transfers without a branch visit. Registration works through UAE PASS, which shares your Emirates ID and residence visa digitally.
The branch is the better choice for foreign cash, for paying by cash or cheque, and for your first transfer to a new country if you want someone to check the recipient details with you.
If a transfer goes wrong
Time limits apply, so act quickly:
- Raise it at the branch first. The branch in-charge handles the complaint, with a target resolution time of 1 to 4 days.
- Escalate to customer care on day 5 if it’s still open: call 600 522 049 or email customercare@gccexchange.com.
- Meet the deadlines. Report a transaction problem within 14 days, and an unauthorised transaction within 30 days.
- Expect a response. GCC Exchange acknowledges a complaint within 2 business days and aims to resolve it within 10.
- Escalate to Sanadak after 30 days. If the complaint isn’t resolved, file it with Sanadak, the UAE’s financial ombudsman under the Central Bank.
Claims have an outer limit too. A cash pickup transfer is treated as complete after 3 months, and a bank transfer after 6 months. Refunds are paid in AED, at the lower of the original rate or the rate on the refund date.

If both branches are busy
Two Deira branches across the Creek keep longer hours:
| Branch | Address | Hours | Phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Naif | Shop No. 1, Mohd. Aqil & Abdul Razak Zarouni Building, below Miami Hotel | Saturday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM | +971 4 235 6364 |
| Deira | Shop No. 8 & 9, Building No. 108, Al Ghurair Real Estate, Sabkha | Saturday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM | +971 4 224 3655 |
Naif opens earlier and closes later than either Bur Dubai branch, which makes it the backup for an early start or a late errand.
