CBD SWIFT code

CBD SWIFT Code: CBDUAEAD, Bank Address & IBAN Details

Commercial Bank of Dubai prints its SWIFT code, CBDUAEADXXX, at the foot of its own terms and conditions, annual disclosures and governance documents. Most transfer forms accept the shorter 8-character form, CBDUAEAD, and both send money to the same bank.

The “CBD” in the code stands for Commercial Bank of Dubai PSC, a Dubai bank founded in 1969 and listed on the Dubai Financial Market.

8 or 11 characters

Enter CBDUAEAD unless the form refuses it. A form with a fixed 11-character box needs CBDUAEADXXX. The XXX block means the head office.

Which branch opened your account doesn’t matter either. The SWIFT code identifies the bank, and the IBAN identifies your account. A payer never needs a branch name or branch code when the IBAN is on the payment. The CBD ATMs and branches list is for visiting in person, not for filling in transfer forms.

Reading a CBD IBAN

A CBD IBAN has 23 characters:

Position Characters Meaning
1 to 2 AE United Arab Emirates
3 to 4 Two digits Check digits
5 to 7 023 Commercial Bank of Dubai
8 to 23 16 digits Your account

If the three digits after the check digits aren’t 023, the IBAN belongs to a different bank and CBDUAEAD is the wrong SWIFT code for it. Copy your IBAN from the CBD Mobile Banking app or your statement rather than typing it. The full layout of IBAN numbers in the UAE is the same at every bank, only the bank code changes.

Charges on an incoming transfer

Correspondent bank charges may apply to local and international transfers at CBD, and the sender’s charge option decides who covers them:

  • With OUR, the sender pays everything and you receive the full amount.
  • With SHA, the fees are split, so a small deduction on arrival is expected.
  • With BEN, every fee on the route comes out of what you receive.

For a fixed payment like rent, a deposit or an invoice, ask the payer to choose OUR.

Sending money abroad from CBD

The same code works in the other direction. When you send from CBD, the recipient’s bank sees CBDUAEAD as the ordering bank. You can send international transfers 24/7 through CBD Mobile Banking, schedule them, and track them in real time with alerts. You’ll need the recipient’s SWIFT code and IBAN, or their account number in countries that don’t use IBAN.

There’s no cooling-off period for foreign exchange and remittances at CBD. Check the beneficiary details twice before you approve a transfer.

When the money doesn’t arrive

  1. Ask the sender for the MT103 SWIFT copy their bank produced.
  2. Check the receiving bank on it reads CBDUAEAD or CBDUAEADXXX.
  3. Check the beneficiary field shows your full 23-character IBAN with 023 in positions 5 to 7.
  4. If both are right and 4 working days have passed, call CBD on 600 575 556 or email customercare@cbd.ae with the MT103 attached.

If the code or IBAN on the MT103 is wrong, only the sender’s bank can amend or recall the payment.
